You do not need a product to start a company. We even did a whole podcast episode on this.

In fact, you should validate ideas as early as possible. If you think you’re onto something, share it with people. Talk to them about your plans / ideas / company before you’ve done anything else.

It’s the best way to figure out as fast as possible if you’ve got a good idea, a bad idea, or something in between.

Early conversations will help you clarify what it is you want to make (whether it’s a product feature, a full blown company, or even just a simple enhancement)

Spend more time talking with possible users before you start spending money on engineering or wasting time creating docs for stakeholders if you haven’t even asked one person if it’s a good idea.

More product testing.

Less wasted time and resources.

Now go out and start creating, I don’t want to hear any excuses about needing to find an engineer before you get building.
